The concept of women empowerment has now been considered to a prerequisite for sustainable development of any given society. But this bitter truth has been ignored for generations till the end of the eighteenth century. The concept of ‘feminism’ can broadly be treated as the twentieth century phenomenon that comes to the mainstream narrative in the last decades of the nineteenth century. Until the early period of nineteenth century women were compelled to endure discrimination due to the dominance of patriarchy. Though this issue had been the subject of some of the prominent writers of the early nineteenth century, women were hardly granted any freedom of choice or expression. The present paper will focus on the theme of suppression of women, and their exploitation & deprivation as depicted by Jane Austen in the novel Pride and Prejudice. The novelist’s dealing with the question of women rights can be considered to be the precursor of feminist movement that gained legitimacy in the last decades of the nineteenth century. Austen uses her writings to change the mindset of her readers by portraying her characters as independent, strong, wise and bold enough to claim more equitable access to socio-political and economic power.

An image of Africa in a young mind is simply the exotic adventurous land that Bibhutibhushan created in his “Chander Pahar” with mammoths , lions and tigers,a land where one needs to penetrate into the impenetrable darkness of Amazons to get it charms and hues. Now comes the African “MAN”- someone with strong, stout curly hairs one will not be a very pleasant image. African ‘WOMAN’, here one needs time to think and respond. We definitely know that Africa is not just these travel talks; it is far more than one’s limit of exploration. These are the results of the grand narratives of making a land exotic so that one can’t think of accessing it. These sort of prevailing narratives lead the indigenous writers to take their pen and write out their stories. But while engaging in this task somehow the females are somehow marginalised. The non inscription of women in the forming of national identities in anti-colonial discourse often constructed on differential hierarchical polarizations which endanger counterproductive identities of women in African colonies, post independence. This exclusion privileges skewed monologues of masculine iconographies which have positional and political resonances in the identification of women. The empire as argued by the feminist critiques is always a raced project. This has resulted in the effacement of women in colonialism. The paper aims to look at the position of women in the African society before colonialism and the shift in paradigm, both in her social and personal level after the advent of the white folks. The paper also tries to throw light on the deliberate marginalisation of African women in the literary landscape till the 1960’s.

Media plays a significant role in the advancement of a society. Media has delivered knowledge and news related to basic events necessary to articulate the prerogatives of people. Radio, Television, print media, and new media are the important procedures of mass media through which messages to masses are presented. Electronic media is an influential instrument in conveying encouraging transformations in society. The influence to an enormous diversified audience enhances the power of this medium to shape extensively united formations of truth. Television channels reconnoitre the evolving environmental issues facing the planet. Environment is the sum total of water, air and land, interrelatedness among themselves and also with the individual, other existing bodies and nature. Hence, a variation in any of the elements may affect the entire environment. Environment related issues are surrounded by the major problems of our times, both in terms of emergency and importance to individual welfare. The main objectives were (1) To analyse the development in coverage of environment subjects in India, (2) To analyse the trends of environment related reporting in the television channels, (3) To analyse the time slot provided to the identified categories of environment. Collected data were analysed in terms of regularity, percentage and mean score of statements. Findings indicate that the majority of the respondents expressed the come to an agreement with these environmental reporting focused on television channels. Now the media play a vital role in the intensive viewpoint of environment issues in society. The analysis of specified environment types reveals that while wildlife remains to be the largest covered category throughout, coverage of climate change and disaster mostly remained event based. Where other issues like heritage places, pollution, forests, energy and agriculture received lesser coverage in the television channels.

In short, the area of focus in this study is quite specific. It concerns the moment of radicalism that retains a widespread appeal in our popular imagination: and this, in turn, creates an entire literary legacy of its own.

Telugu (Tollywood) film Industry, is one of the most popular Regional film industries known for the actors like Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, NTR, Nagarjuna, and now Prabhas because of Bahubali and Saaho. It is a man who leads in the films for many years, Hero will fight with the villain, and he is going to save his heroine and he kills the villain at the end. It is the hero, the male protagonist becomes the centre of attraction for the audience and this had been going for many years. But what about the Heroines? Her role was limited as a glam-doll or as a victim where she will be kidnapped by the villain or she will be killed. In short, her role has been limited for many years. She was neglected, and she was meant for filling the gaps in a movie. Telugu Industry was not giving any agency to a female character and their roles were made limited for many years as glamorous, weak that depend on the hero who will save her at the end of the film with a happy union of both. But what happens when these actresses bring change in their roles? What happens if they equally perform with the male actors as a main protagonist in the film with or without male lead? .This paper is going to explore about the changes in the portrayal of the female characters about how female actors breaking the stereotype of The Telugu film Industry as an equal performer with the male lead and bringing a change in a particular movie through their role, their dialogues; they create an important space for themselves within the masculine realm. This paper will also explore their development and their changes in their roles, and how they are trying to change and develop their potential as an actor in a movie, and how they are bringing a change among the audience as well and they are trying to bring a change by not doing the stereotypical roles in a movie.
